Oberthur Technologies introduces the first
European Citizen Card integrated with Microsoft Windows 7
Helsinki, October 6th - 09:00 am
Oberthur Technologies, a global leader in the delivery of high security solutions to the ID market, delivers the first IAS-ECC[1] cards compatible with Microsoft Windows 7.
ID-One™ IAS-ECC, an identity card, offers an identification, authentication and electronic signature solution that can be implemented throughout Europe ― fulfilling the specifications defined for the European Citizen Card.
Thanks to its flexibility and interoperability, IAS-ECC cards can be easily deployed by all integrators and security application providers. The Microsoft minidriver allows the IAS-ECC card to be plug and play with Windows 7 environment.
This solution offers an easily deployable, high end security smart card solution that offers both physical and logical access control for any governmental or corporate identity application.
ID-One™ IAS-ECC is about to receive all the homologation and security certifications required by any governments, including Common Criteria EAL4+ PP-SSCD[2], level which is required for all qualified signature projects.
Oberthur Technologies and Microsoft have been w orking closely to create a minidriver. Microsoft’s’ minidriver is a plug in that translates each smartcards’ features to a unique interface designed by Microsoft for Windows 7. Minidriver v7 offers new functionalities including automatic smartcard recognition and the use of the latest cryptographic algorithms (eg: AES[3] & elliptic curves). This allows users transparent access to the latest security and cryptographic technologies.
“This integration validates Oberthur Technologies’ expertise in digital ID” says Moise Moyal, Identity Division marketing manager. “The adoption of the IAS-ECC standard in Microsoft products is one of the best solutions to secure governments and companies logical access control projects.”
